Obedience & Behavior Classes

Practical Obedience

good-family-dog-practical-obedience5-2Practical Obedience is the next step after puppy class and focuses on force-free, reward-based cooperation and good manners. Note: Practical Obedience is not appropriate for dogs with aggression towards people or other dogs.

– 5 one-hour, weekly classes
– Minimum age: 20 weeks / 5 months

 

 

 

Locations:
Castle Rock: Sundays at 10:30 am,  Tuesdays at  7:00 pm
Franktown: Saturdays at 10:15 am

Curriculum covers:

  • How to teach, reinforce and use the behaviors you want
  • Interruption skills, coming when called, polite greetings, polite leash walking, stay, leave it, sit, down, etc.
  • How to create a well mannered dog
  • How to motivate the dog to be an enthusiastic training partner

Franktown: Saturday, July 15 at 10:15 am

Practical Obedience Level II: Heel & Other Games

good-family-dog-practical-obedience2-2In Practical Obedience Level II, we create a higher level of reliability for all the obedience skills, with a focus on true “loose leash” walking and impulse control.

Reactive dogs are not appropriate for this class. If your dog is leash aggressive, schedule a private session.

– 5 one-hour, weekly classes
– Must have completed Practical Obedience Level I

Visitation Therapy & the Canine Good Citizen

Good-Family-Dog-Visitation3-430x200This course covers the skills required for Visitation Therapy Class and includes the Canine Good Citizen Test as well as a field trip to a local assisted living facility.

– 5 one-hour, weekly classes
– Must have completed Practical Obedience Level I
